Text Comparison
readingcommunicationmainpairsmedium prep20-30 minTBLT
Students read two texts on the same topic and identify similarities, differences, and contradictions.
Procedure
- Give pairs two texts on the same topic (different perspectives, sources, or time periods).
- Students read both texts.
- Using a Venn diagram or comparison grid, identify what's shared, what's unique, and what contradicts.
- Pairs discuss: which text is more convincing? Why?
- Share conclusions with the class.
Tips
- Choose texts with genuine differences in perspective — not just different facts.
- The discussion about contradictions is where critical thinking happens.
