Further Research and Report Back

readingspeakingwritingcommunicationmainsmall-grouplow prep30+ minTBLT

After reading, students identify unanswered questions, research them, and report back.

Procedure

  1. After reading a text, groups identify 3-5 questions the text raises but doesn't answer.
  2. Divide questions among group members.
  3. Research (using phones, library, or provided sources).
  4. Report findings to the group.
  5. Group presents a synthesis to the class.

Tips

  • The text becomes a springboard, not an endpoint.
  • Students learn that texts are partial — they always leave things unsaid.
