Mystery Task

speakinglisteningreadingcommunicationmainsmall-grouphigh prep25-40 minTBLT

Each student holds different clue cards about a mystery; the group shares and deduces what happened.

Procedure

  1. Prepare clue cards (8-12) with different pieces of information about a crime or mystery.
  2. Distribute cards — each student gets 2-3 cards.
  3. Students read their clues aloud (no showing).
  4. Group discusses, combines information, and deduces: What happened? Who did it? Why?
  5. Groups present their solution; reveal the answer.

Tips

  • Include some red herring clues to make it genuinely challenging.
  • The no-showing rule forces oral communication and careful listening.
