Pause and Predict

Teacher pauses audio at key moments; students predict what comes next, then listen to verify.

Procedure

1. Play an audio recording (story, talk, interview).
2. Pause at a key moment.
3. Students discuss with a partner: "What do you think happens/comes next?"
4. Play the next section to verify.
5. Repeat 3-4 times throughout the recording.

Tips

• Pause at genuinely unpredictable moments — not just ends of sentences.
• Good prediction points: before a punchline, before a solution, before a speaker's opinion is revealed.
