Student reads a phrase silently, looks away, then says it aloud from memory.
Procedure
- Give students a short text (or use one from class).
- Student reads one phrase or sentence silently.
- Looks up (away from text) and says it aloud to a partner.
- Partner checks accuracy against the text.
- Progress to longer chunks as confidence builds.
Tips
- Start with 5-7 word chunks.
- Builds the bridge between reading and speaking fluency.
- Works well as a 5-minute warm-up.
