Disappearing Text

Class reads a text aloud, then words are progressively erased until they recite from memory.

Procedure

  1. Display a short text on the board (4-6 sentences).
  2. Class reads it aloud together.
  3. Erase a few words.
  4. Class reads again, supplying missing words from memory.
  5. Continue erasing until the board is empty and the class recites the full text.

Tips

  • Erase function words first, keep content words as anchors.
  • Works brilliantly for memorising dialogues, poems, or target structures.
