Extensive Listening

Students listen to large quantities of easy, enjoyable audio for pleasure and general comprehension.

Procedure

1. Curate a collection of easy audio materials (podcasts, graded audiobooks, TED-Ed videos).
2. Students choose what to listen to — no assigned materials.
3. Listen for 15+ minutes (in class or as homework).
4. Keep a simple listening log (title, length, brief reaction).
5. Optional: share a recommendation with a classmate weekly.

Tips

• Like extensive reading, the material must be EASY — if students replay constantly, it's too hard.
• No comprehension tests. Enjoyment drives the learning.
