Consensus Task

speakingcommunicationmainsmall-grouplow prep20-30 minTBLT

Groups must reach unanimous agreement on a dilemma with no objectively correct answer.

Procedure

  1. Present a scenario or moral dilemma.
  2. Each student forms an initial position (1-2 min).
  3. Group discusses, aiming for unanimous consensus.
  4. If consensus reached, present and justify it.
  5. If not, explain where disagreement persists and why.

Tips

  • The requirement for unanimity (not majority vote) forces genuine negotiation.
  • Choose dilemmas where reasonable people genuinely disagree.
