Perfect Dictation

A multi-day dictation cycle where the same text is dictated, marked, and re-dictated until learners can produce a perfect copy.
Procedure
- Do a standard dictation and mark it (teacher or peer marking).
- Return the marked dictation. Learners listen to the whole text again while looking at their marked work, paying attention to their errors.
- On another day, dictate the same text again. Mark it again.
- On a third occasion, dictate it once more. By this time, learners almost know the dictation by heart and should be able to write it perfectly.
Tips
- The first marking is only the first step in the teaching process, not the final product.
- Each re-dictation reinforces the correct forms and builds confidence.
- Works well as a spaced repetition activity across a week (e.g., Monday, Wednesday, Friday).
- Particularly effective for reinforcing spelling patterns, grammar structures, and multiword units.
