Rotating Writers Dictation

Groups take turns writing a dictated sentence, rotating the writer each round.

Procedure

1. Arrange students in small groups with one shared piece of paper.
2. Teacher dictates a gapped sentence.
3. The current writer writes the sentence and fills in the gap.
4. The writer holds up the sentence for the teacher to check.
5. Rotate the writer for the next sentence.
6. Continue until all students have written.

Tips

• For a faster variant, each student writes only one word before passing the paper.
• Keep sentences short enough that the writing turn stays quick and pressure stays fun.
