Jigsaw Speaking

Each student learns different information, then regroups to share and assemble the full picture.

Procedure

1. Divide material into 3-4 sections; assign one section per student.
2. Students read/study their section and become "experts."
3. Regroup so each new group has one expert per section.
4. Experts explain their piece; group assembles the full picture.
5. Check understanding with comprehension questions.

Tips

• Give experts 5 minutes prep time with others who read the same section before regrouping.
